Long Pond in Plymouth is a massive 227-acre great pond—one of the deepest in the state—with an average depth of 45 feet and a maximum of 111 feet, creating prime cold-water habitat year-round. This clear-water beauty (transparency often hitting 18 feet) stays stratified in summer but holds plenty of oxygenated depths for fish to thrive. Primarily groundwater-fed with a small inlet from Little Long Pond, the pond features sandy and rubble substrates along its 3.3 miles of mostly developed shoreline, plus rocky points, steep drop-offs, and submerged structure that scream "bass territory." Both largemouth and smallmouth bass flourish here—smallies love the deeper, rockier zones and cooler water, while largies hit the shallows and any available cover. It's a tournament staple with reliable bites, easy launching at the DCR concrete ramp off Clark Road (ample trailer parking, 50 hp limit enforced), and a reputation for quality fish.
Where the depths hide monsters and the clear water reveals epic fights—Long Pond: dive deep for bass that go the distance! 🎣
