Saint Catherine

This exciting 2-day tournament takes you to two of Vermont's premier bass fisheries in Rutland County—perfect for testing versatility across big-water power and scenic, feature-packed action.
Day 1: Lake Bomoseen (Castleton/Hubbardton area) is Vermont's largest lake entirely within state borders at about 2,400 acres, with an average depth of 27 feet and a max of 65 feet. It delivers solid clarity and diverse habitat: shallow weed lines, aquatic vegetation, rocky points, underwater humps, boat docks, and steep drop-offs in the main lake (especially around Neshobe Island and the "slate slide"). Primarily glacial-fed with inflows from streams and groundwater, the lake drains toward Lake Champlain via the Castleton River. Both largemouth and smallmouth bass are abundant and high-quality here—largies dominate the weedy shallows and cover, while smallies crush rocky structure and deeper zones, with frequent trophy potential (3-8 lb fish common) making it a top statewide destination. Multiple public concrete ramps provide easy access.
Day 2: Lake Saint Catherine (Poultney/Wells area) spans 850-890 acres with an average depth around 32 feet and a max of 68 feet—cool, clear waters supporting mixed warm- and cold-water species. Groundwater springs and small inflows keep it productive, with a narrow northern outlet. Habitat shines with vegetated coves and weed beds at the north/south ends (ideal for largemouth around docks, rocks, and plants), plus rocky points, bluff walls, gravel transitions, and drop-offs for smallmouth in deeper areas. Both largemouth and smallmouth thrive in healthy numbers—largies in shallow cover, smallies on hard bottom and rocks—with consistent quality bites and tournament-friendly launches (concrete ramp at Lake St. Catherine State Park and others).

Together, these lakes offer a killer contrast: Bomoseen's big-lake trophy hunts followed by St. Catherine's technical, feature-rich battles—plenty of public access, reliable bites, and prime conditions for our bass club showdown.
From massive weeds to rocky rumble—Bomoseen to St. Catherine: Vermont's double-dose of bass bliss where every cast could be the one! 🎣
