Club vs Club

Webster Lake

Saturday - Sept 12, 2026

7AM - 3:00PM

Webster Lake (aka Lake Chaubunagungamaug) in Webster, MA, is a glacial giant and the biggest natural lake in southern New England, covering 1,297–1,442 acres with an average depth of 13–15 feet and a max plunging to 45–49 feet. This spring-fed beauty (originating from three connected ponds) delivers excellent clarity (often 10–15 feet of transparency) and a mix of mud/rock bottoms, weed edges, rocky points, humps, drop-offs, and channels—creating endless options for targeting bass. The 17-mile shoreline is mostly developed with homes, but the lake's size and diversity support powerhouse populations of both largemouth and smallmouth bass: largies thrive in mid-depth weeds, grass, and rocks (4–18 ft ranges common for post-spawn/feeding fish), while smallies dominate deeper structure, humps, and rocky zones (20–35 ft+ for aggressive bites). Quality fish are plentiful (tournament reports of solid limits and big fish), with consistent action across the lake's sections—North, Middle, and South Ponds connected by narrow channels. Public access located at the state launch on Lakeside Ave in South Pond—free and trailer-friendly though sometimes shallow.
